Vampyr’s patch to “de-emphasize combat” drops next week

Focus Interactive has confirmed Vampyr’s afore-promised patch to “de-emphasise” combat in the vampire action-RPG will release later this week on 26th September 2018. “Story Mode de-emphasizes combat, placing a greater focus on narrative so players can enjoy Dr. Jonathan Reid’s journey with less challenging gameplay,” states an update on Steam. “On the other end of the scale, Hard Mode makes combat much more difficult. Players will receive less experience from killing enemies too, forcing them to rely even more on embracing citizens to grow in power. Upon starting a new…

TGS 2018: Death Stranding Continues to Confound with the Man in the Golden Mask

Oh, this is good – this is very good. Kojima Productions simply can’t resist showing off Death Stranding, and as part of its TGS 2018 stage show, it’s put up an 80 second clip introducing Troy Baker’s character, who’s aptly known as “the man in the golden mask”. The newcomer – who’ll be voiced by Satoshi Mikami in Japan – seems like a potentially ominous foe (or is he?), as he uses his face gear to summon an Eldritch enemy that would impress even H.P. Lovecraft himself. We really do…

Destiny 2 Forsaken players think they’ve found the Malfeasance quest line

Destiny 2 Forsaken players believe they’ve stumbled upon the location where the quest for the Malfeasance hand cannon begins… but cannot yet find a way to trigger the quest line. As reported by Forbes, players believe they’ve located Callum’s Grave, widely thought – thanks to a little datamining – to be the inaugural step of the quest for Malfeasance, an exotic – and extraordinarily elusive – hand cannon. Callum’s grave has been found in the Dreaming City strike, The Corrupted, which wasn’t unlocked until a clan defeated Destiny 2’s latest…

Troy Baker joins Death Stranding cast as the mysterious Man in the Golden Mask

The latest trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding reveals Troy Baker will be joining the English voice cast. The new teaser for Death Stranding – which debuted at Tokyo Games Show – shows new antagonist The Man in the Golden Mask pull off said mask… only for his face to be further concealed underneath. He then drops to his knees, stirs up some black goo until the strands combine to form… well, I’m not sure what it forms, actually. A lion monster demon thing? Maybe? Perhaps it’s best if you…

Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s post-credit scene was switched in a day one patch

As this story discusses an alternate ending to Shadow, if you’ve yet to complete the game or are sensitive to spoilers, head back and read something else! If you continue past this point, there will be spoilers for Shadow, and – potentially – future Tomb Raider games, too. Shadow of the Tomb Raider players who did not apply Square Enix’s day one patch have seen a different post-credits scene to those who dutifully patched their game. While fans excitedly discussed Lara’s latest adventure on Tombraiderforums.com (thanks, Kotaku), forum member Tombstone…

2K customer support overwhelmed by NBA 2K19 complaints

2K’s customer support service is struggling to deal with the volume of complaints as NBA 2K19 players log a litany of issues, including lost in-game currency (VC), progression problems, and neverending games (thanks, Kotaku). Others are reporting that the sports series’ latest release also has issues with court conquerors and inexplicable MyCareer file deletions. At the time of writing, it appears the problems are widespread across most platforms. Right now the issues seem mostly confined to MyCareer mode, but given this is usually where players invest their in-game currency, VC…

Devil May Cry 5 has microtransactions

Martin Robinson Features and Reviews Editor @vics_viper Devil May Cry 5 will allow players to spend real money to upgrade their characters. The news came via a build of the game being shown at Tokyo Game Show, in which orbs could be bought at Divinity Statues in-game to hurry up progression – a system that had previously appeared in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, though given the backlash that similar systems have faced it’s still a surprise to see it return. Gamespot spoke to Devil May Cry 5 director…

Review: RGX Showdown (PS4)

RGX Showdown’s promise of a new arcade racer from the creators of Burnout and Split/Second is a fairly empty one. It’s a minuscule indie racing game with some impressive talent behind it, and while it certainly evokes elements of your old favourites, it isn’t really in the same class. RGX Showdown’s online only races see you facing off in head to head sprints from A to B, tearing across futuristic highways in anti-gravity vehicles. Every hour, a new tournament begins, and you’re tasked with climbing the leaderboard by competing in…
