The Elder Scrolls Online’s next big expansion takes place in the Summerset Isle, Bethesda has announced.
The Isle of Summerset, home of the High Elves, was an explorable area in 1994’s The Elder Scrolls: Arena, but has only been mentioned in Elder Scrolls games since.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset includes a new zone, a new story, a new skill line based on the Psijiic Order and the introduction of jewelry crafting. It comes out on 5th June for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Here’s the official blurb:
By the decree of Queen Ayrenn, Summerset Isle is now open to foreigners, but a Daedric threat looms over the breathtaking home of the High Elves. Players will travel to the Summerset Isle, gather allies, and unravel a shadowy conspiracy that threatens all of Tamriel.
Bethesda said the new zone, simply called Summerset Isle, is a larger area than Vvardenfell, which was introduced in last year’s expansion, Morrowind. The main story concludes the Daedric drama that began in 2015′ Orsinium DLC.
Summerset also marks the first time in an Elder Scrolls game that you can join the Psijic Order. You’ll be able to explore their secretive home city of Artaeum, too.
And there’s a new 12-player trial called Cloudrest for group PvE fans.
Both level one and max-level players can jump into Summerset, Bethesda said. New players can start a character and play the expansion without having to complete previous Elder Scrolls Online content, with a new tutorial and starting area to get you up and running. Current players can upgrade to Summerset and explore the new zone, as you’d expect.
To coincide with the announcement, Bethesda has launched a free week for Elder Scrolls Online that begins today for PC and PS4 and starts tomorrow on Xbox One. This expires on 27th March.
