Fired Guild Wars 2 writer says she was given no warning

Former Guild Wars 2 writer Jessica Price was fired last week without, she has said, any warning. “I was given no opportunity to argue my case,” Price told Polygon. “[Studio co-founder and president Mike O’Brien] spent some time insisting that developers must be friends with the company’s customers, and that it was unacceptable to say that we aren’t, even when we’re not on the clock. He told me I’d look back and regret this, because we were doing great work and I’d ruined it. “The whole thing was highly unprofessional.…

Gravity Rush 2 fans plead for Sony to stop server shutdown

Sony is planning to switch off its Gravity Rush 2 online servers in the very near future – and we’ve known that for some time. But as the big day nears, fans are mounting a campaign for Sony to hold fire. Gravity Rush 2 is an open-world twist on platformers where instead of jumping the player can alter the direction of gravity. It launched in January 2017, less than 18 months ago. The Division 2 Campaign and Endgame Can Be Played Single-Player

The Division 2 won’t force you to group up with friends or randoms, Ubisoft has confirmed. Much like the first game, you’ll be able to fly solo and enjoy just about everything that the title has to offer without forming a squad. Game director Mathias Karlson told Aus Gamers: “You can play through the entire story campaign into endgame and [then the] end-game [content] alone.” Karlson reiterates that the development team want you to play however you like, and of course, the option of joining up with other players will…

Overwatch’s Pink Mercy raises recordbreaking $12.7m for breast cancer research

Blizzard’s limited-time Pink Mercy skin for Overwatch has raised an enormous $12.7m (£9.5m) for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It’s the largest single donation by a company ever given to the charity – and all generated by Overwatch players. Some back of the envelope maths suggests around 735,000 people bought the £13 not-for-profit cosmetic. Blizzard had previously said that at a minimum it would donate $250k. Turns out a lot more people wanted Pink Mercy than that. In addition, Blizzard also raised further donations selling real-life T-shirts, and $130k via…

Guide: The Best PS4 External Hard Drive Upgrades

While it’s still very convenient to pick up PS4 games on a Blu-ray disc, if you are anything like us you’ll have been tempted by the multitude of downloadable goodies which go on sale from time to time on the PlayStation Store. Don’t even mention that PS Plus backlog, before long you’ll have chewed through all the internal storage on your PS4 and you’ll have no option but to delete some of your bigger games and clean away that DLC. Of course it is possible to upgrade on the internal PS4…

Just Cause 4 Wants to Be the Best Open World Sandbox Ever

Just Cause 4, like Dying Light 2, got lost in the E3 2018 shuffle somewhat. When there are a lot of big new games unveiled, some inevitably fall through the cracks, so here’s a timely reminder that Avalanche Studios – the busiest AAA studio in Sweden, it seems – is busy beavering away on a new adventure for Rico Rodriguez. While it may be fighting for the limelight, the developer has high ambitions for this sequel, as game director Francesco Antolini told Game Reactor: “We want to make the best…
