Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, is a playable character in Runner 3

After 28 years as the voice of Mario, Charles Martinet will finally be stepping out of the sound booth and onto the screen – as a playable character in developer Choice Provisions’ upcoming rhythmic platformer Runner 3. Martinet is a bit of a fixture in the excellent Runner series, of course – he’s the voice of the affable narrator in Runner 3 and its predecessor (and can be heard in the latest trailer below), so his promotion to playable character isn’t too left field. Choice Provisions announced Martinet’s playable debut…

Poll: Are You Sold on Red Dead Redemption 2 Yet?

The latest story trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped earlier this week (you can watch it above), and perhaps surprisingly, it wasn’t an instant hit with everyone. Since it arrived on the ‘net, we’ve seen split opinions across the board. Some people love the atmosphere and storytelling style that’s on show in the trailer, while others lament the lack of gameplay. While the footage is clearly in-game, we suspect a large chunk of onlookers were expecting some sort of drawn-out gameplay demonstration. What we got was just over two…

PUBG halts personal item trades

The ability to trade in-game items between players has been switched off in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for the foreseeable future – to stop the sale of these items using third-party sites. In a new blog, PUBG Corp. called the decision a “temporary” measure, but there was no mention of how it might solve the problem, or what timeframe this could take. To clarify, this does not involve the sale of items via the Steam marketplace. This is about the “personal trade” system which PUBG Corp. says was “supposed to allow friends…

Soapbox: The Last of Us: Part II Has Plenty to Prove at E3 2018

I love The Last of Us and I can’t wait to see its successor on stage at E3 2018 next month. Long-haired director Neil Druckmann confirmed at PlayStation Experience late last year that we would get our first glimpse of gameplay during Sony’s press conference, and a select few have already seen the demo behind closed doors. Apparently it’s incredible – but I do have some niggling concerns about Naughty Dog’s next game. If you’d asked me before God of War whether I had any worries at all about The Last…
