Netflix says it still wants to make a Stranger Things game despite Telltale closure

Following last Friday’s news of majority lay-offs at Telltale Games, questions remained regarding the status of the studio’s previously announced projects. Streaming service Netflix has now moved to clear up some of that confusion, confirming that although Telltale is no longer involved in its Stranger Things game, it still hopes to continue the project in some form. It has also revealed that Telltale will complete work on its interactive TV adaptation of Minecraft: Story Mode. Telltale’s partnership with Netflix was announced in June, alongside the news that the collaboration would…

Finally, a Space Hulk game with Genestealers that look interesting to play

When it comes to Space Hulk, we’re used to playing as Space Marines cleansing creepy abandoned spaceships of the rabid Genestealer menace. In most cases the Genestealers are mindless AI who try to bludgeon the player’s units to death – and there’s little else going on. Space Hulk: Tactics, though, looks like it’s put a bit more thought into how the Genestealers work. They play significantly differently than the Terminators and even have their own campaign. Space Hulk: Tactics is an XCOM meets Space Hulk turn-based strategy game from Focus…

Review: NHL 19 (PS4)

The NHL series is a weird one. Years ago, when 2K had its own NHL series, there was a competition for attention between the two franchises that drove both series’ forward as time went by. But without the competition that NBA Live deals with or the massive install base of Madden, NHL usually comes off as the series that is generally overlooked. This is by no means feels the fault of developer EA Canada either – the series often feels restrained by a teensy budget and small team. Unfortunately, it…

This has left hundreds of people out of work, and all future projects have been cancelled. It’s a shocking development that has left many dumbstruck. Melissa Hutchison, the voice of Clementine and an actor who has lent her talents to Telltale’s adventures for over a decade, delivered a bittersweet message via Twitter recently. In it,…

Hands On: Man of Medan Is a Return to Form for Until Dawn Dev

Developer Supermassive Games has been treading water for far too long now. After its 2015 title Until Dawn became a bit of a cult hit that deserved a lot more love, it overloaded itself with PlayStation VR projects, most of which missed the mark by a big margin. The likes of Bravo Team and The Inpatient seem to be behind the studio now, though, with its latest project hoping to capitalise on what made Until Dawn tick. The Dark Pictures Anthology will be a series of short stories based on…

Nintendo fans are splicing Bowser with Peach and now Bowsette is trending

Last week, a new item for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was unveiled which created a brand new character in Mario lore. The power-up, called the Super Crown, appears to transform Toadette into a Princess Peach fusion called Peachette – and understandably, many Nintendo fans were utterly flummoxed. Is Peachette an entirely new character that only appears with the crown? Or is the crown able to transform any Mario character into a Peach version? Until yesterday, I naively thought this was the end of the debate, until I spotted…

Devil May Cry 5 Has Microtransactions for Some Stupid Reason

Capcom, why? You were doing so well! Just when you’re on the verge of thinking Capgod is back, the Japanese company does something really stupid to remind you that yes, this is still modern Capcom. Aside from the divisive and now controversial Dante battle theme saga, Devil May Cry 5 has been shaping up brilliantly. It looks immaculate, it supposedly plays superbly, and Nero actually seems pretty cool. But then GameSpot goes and, er, spots the option to buy character upgrades with real money in the latest build of the…
